Race against time to sequence diseases and test cures in this Pandemic expansion. The Pandemic base game and On the Brink expansion are required to play. New medical technology has been developed that will help treat the infectious diseases spreading across the globe. The In the Lab expansion for Pandemic adds more variety and challenge to your mission of containing deadly disease outbreaks. This time, there’s a whole new way to discover cures and get closer to winning the game. Travel around the board collecting samples of each disease in the field, then use the Lab board to sequence, characterize, and test your cures. Add sample cubes to one of the two lab dishes by taking the Treat Disease action. Once enough samples are collected, seal yourself behind bio-hazard doors and send the samples through the centrifuge and separator to place them on sequence cards in the correct order. If you can get a disease characterized and sequenced, you’re ready to find a cure! The three challenges included with this expansion evolve the base game mechanics in exciting ways. One disease might become a Virulent Strain and become more difficult to treat as the game goes on. Or you could introduce an unpredictable fifth disease with the Mutation challenge and watch it pop up in unexpected places. Finally, teamwork is even more important if a fifth player dons the mask of the Bio-Terrorist and spreads panic while moving secretly across the board. In Pandemic: Contagion, the tables are turned: you are the disease, striking back against humanity! In this decidedly non-cooperative stand-alone game inspired by Pandemic, you compete against other players to exterminate human civilization through worldwide infection. Fuel your actions with cards that can spread disease by infecting new cities across the globe. You can also mutate your disease to accelerate the rate at which you draw cards, infect cities, or resist efforts to curb your growth. The more people you infect and the faster you grow, the more points you’ll score. The disease with the highest death toll at the end of the game wins!
